GK8 by Galaxy – The Story Behind Our Bold New Look

Over the past six years, GK8 has evolved significantly. Today, we introduce a new look and vision that reflects the next phase of our journey.

Story of our new brand

Over the past six years, GK8 has evolved significantly—from expanding the capabilities of the market’s digital asset custody solutions to joining forces with Galaxy. Today, we introduce a new look and vision that reflects the next phase of our journey.

Since the very beginning, GK8 has dedicated itself to protecting the future of money by building secure digital asset custody products. Banks, exchanges, foundations, hedge funds, and all other financial institutions can store digital assets using our Impenetrable Vault, the only technology on the market that enables them to provide digital assets that are theft-proof. Coupled with our easy-to-use uMPC and Tokenization platform, institutions can fully control their digital asset operations, including token creation and issuance, trading, lending, staking and other DeFi activities.

Now, as a Galaxy company, with access to the firm’s extensive experience across all facets of the blockchain ecosystem, we continue to evolve while maintaining our focus on innovation and trust. To reflect this next step, we’re introducing a refreshed visual identity that captures our mission to protect digital assets and enable financial institutions to adopt them responsibly.

Lior Lamesh, Founder and CEO of GK8 by Galaxy, said, “Since becoming part of the Galaxy team, we have matured, grown, and gained a deeper understanding of the evolving digital asset market. By tapping into Galaxy’s technical expertise and global network of investors, startups, and developers, we’ve refined our products to meet the complex needs of both traditional and crypto-native firms. We’re no longer the small startup we once were; we’re now a part of Galaxy. It’s time our brand reflects the sophistication and security we deliver to our customers.”

Mike Novogratz, Founder and CEO of Galaxy, said, “In the digital assets space, trust starts with safe, secure custody. With GK8’s security-first approach to asset protection, institutions can confidently manage their digital asset operations in a manner that builds long-term trust with their clients. Galaxy’s engineering and global markets teams are working closely with GK8’s developers to ensure its products continue to evolve and meet the highest standards of security and scalability.”

In 2018, Lior Lamesh and Shahar Shamai were fascinated by the potential of blockchains, but worried the technology’s growth and adoption weren’t keeping pace with the latest security practices. Drawing on their experience protecting strategic national assets against cyberattacks, Lior and Shahar exposed security flaws in one of the most popular crypto wallets. To put it simply, they hacked it.

Every year, billions of dollars in digital assets are stolen through security flaws and hacks, draining trust from the market. For banks, exchanges, hedge funds, and other institutions, trust isn’t just nice to have. It’s the cornerstone of our economy. And damage to trust is often irreversible.

Lior and Shahar knew there was a better way.

Together they founded GK8 later that year. Following the ups and downs of the digital asset market, Galaxy acquired GK8 in February 2023, creating a one-stop-shop for institutions’ digital asset needs. With Galaxy’s support, GK8 has invested in building out its tech infrastructure and global footprint to meet demand from an array of institutional clients. Notable projects include the licensing of its tokenization and self-custody technology to support AllUnity, a joint collaboration between Galaxy, DWS, and Flow Traders to create a fully collateralized Euro stablecoin.

Building trust with Impenetrable Custody

It takes years to earn a client’s trust. It takes just one hack to lose it.

Truly secure custody of digital assets demands a higher level of care than anything provided by today’s market. To that end, GK8 created a new standard of care that stands above all others: Impenetrable Custody.

This unique technology enables banks, exchanges, funds and other institutions to store digital assets in a manner that is simply theft-proof. The Impenetrable Vault utilizes our patented one-way communication technology with zero digital input, making it simply impossible for cybercriminals to get in.

Self-custody storage methods in the digital assets market

Custody technology types differ primarily based on the level of internet connectivity.

Custody technology types

Warm custody, including MPC and multisig wallets, is always connected to the internet. Cold custody includes cloud HSM and any other solutions that are partially connected to the internet. Impenetrable Custody solutions are never connected to the internet. They’re 100% theft-proof, with no digital input at any point.

Currently, GK8’s Impenetrable Vault is the only Impenetrable Custody solution on the market.

Taking full control of digital assets with our uMPC

GK8’s unlimited MPC (uMPC) uses patented technology to enable an unlimited number of co-signers with unmatched speed and unrivaled security.

With uMPC, financial institutions can leverage the most advanced MPC capabilities to protect their digital assets while meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing operational efficiency.

Tokenization Wizard – Transform any asset into a secure digital token within minutes

GK8’s Tokenization Wizard guides users through the process of tokenizing real-world assets—from real estate and fine art to intellectual property and even everyday objects—in the form of digital tokens. Our user-friendly tokenization software does not require any coding and allows clients to generate stablecoins, commodity tokens, equity tokens, NFTs, or practically any other type of tokenized asset within minutes.

The new GK8 brand

When customers work with GK8, they’re also working with Galaxy, one of the leading diversified financial services and investments firms focused on digital assets. We updated our logo to reflect Galaxy’s acquisition and the combined strength and robustness we now provide to institutions.

Geometric shapes, taken from the clean lines of Galaxy’s brand, represent the various digital assets in the space. Our Impenetrable Vault illustration represents the products’ impenetrable protection. All angles point away, demonstrating its patented one-way communication technology, with nothing coming into the area protected by the Impenetrable Vault.

All angles point away

We are leading the way for financial institutions to navigate the complexities of the digital asset landscape, empowering them to embrace the future of money with confidence. Trust is the most valuable asset for our clients and our brand should reflect that every day. Within our logo, the inner circle in the top half of figure eight represents digital assets secured by GK8. The theft-proof Impenetrable Vault means digital assets can be held, transferred, or traded without fear of compromise. Once assets are protected by the Impenetrable Vault, and trust is established between institutions and the public, the potential is endless.
